Stained Glass Creations
by

There is nothing like stained glass to brighten a space. A small piece can add a touch of color and class. A larger piece can create a lasting impression and add value to a home or business.
On the following pages you'll find pictures and information about
- small gift-size pieces
- medium size "ready made" pieces
- larger custom work

Design ideas can come from any number of sources. Anything you treasure or enjoy has the potential to be made into a custom piece. You can choose a style such as Art Nouveau, Art Deco or Prairie Style as a starting point. Or, we can start with something more personal. I've designed work based on
- quilt patterns
- a dragonfly
- an island where a couple grew up
- a school mascot
and much more.....
The fun part is finding a way to incorporate all the things that are important to you. The results are an "heirloom" which will mean something to your family for years to come.
I fell in love with stained glass in the summer of 1984. A number of things attracted me - the intensity of color, the play of light on the beveled glass, the interlocking aspect to the pieces and the necessity for a simplified design. That fall, I took a class called Architectural Ornament in which stained glass design and construction was taught, and I was hooked.
As with any artist, my work reflects my interests. I have a B.A. and B.F.A. in Biology and Art respectively and have studied architecture. These studies as well as my interest in color, texture, and proportions play a large role in my designs. Simplicity, beauty and balance are the ideals I strive to achieve in each piece whether it is designed for a client or for myself. I aspire to create works as moving as those found in the ancient Lascaux caves or on prints from the orient. These artists simply and elegantly expressed a love and respect for their subject as well as a mastery of their medium.
